Its so ironic that the people I know who’ve had eating disorder get asked for their “diet” or “weight loss” tips. Of course, never people that actually know about our struggles. Its usually desperate people, who obviouslt notice nothing about us other than our unusual thinness. They probably didn’t think we looked great but they think we must know a thing or two about weight loss and dieting.
Oh yes, we know so much, but yet, we know absolutly nothing!
This asking for weight loss advie tappered off after I left outpatient treatment. But a few months ago, I got asked at the grocery store what I eat to look “that good”. I felt proud that maybe I do look better now, but the asking for diet tips irked me.
Anyhow, I thought I would share some possible responses to those irked by people constantly asking how to loose weight:
Use superglue as lip gloss
Exhale with all your might BEFORE stepping onto the scale (air has to weigh something, right?)
Stand with arms raised, making pressure on the scale lighter. (Waving them is optional but occasionally helps!)
Don’t burn off fat with a candle…. a blow torch will work quicker
Instead of carrying your laptop around – start carrying your desktop PC
Anything somebody made ‘just for you’ must be eaten regardless of the calories because to do otherwise would be uncaring and insensitive
Weigh yourself after a haircut; this is good for at least half a pound of hair
Care to share your “tips”?
As far as real diet tips, I think its simple. Eat for the moment (dont think about what you ate before, or what you will eat later), eat a little a of everything, and eat what you want (really want, sometimes, my eating disorder says it wants veggies when it really wants chocolate).
And…..its flashback friday!
For today’s recipe, I thought I’d make a cool gluten free mac n cheese. You will need
-about half a medium squash roasted or made soft in the microwave (about three minuets)
-about half cup of cheddar cheese
-red chili flake
-BBQ popped potato chips (trader joes brand, or the “popchips” kind)
top the cooked strands with cheese, chili flakes, and garlic powder and put in the oven until the cheese melts. Before serving, crumple the BBQ popped potato chips on top (as the bread crumbs).
So I’m kind of wanting brulee torch so to increase my chances of getting a free one, I’m hoping to win Lisa’s Giveaway. Check it out.
